Join us for our 3rd virtual Cybersecurity Forum.

Concerns about IoT and supporting Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) and infrastructure have led to significant enacted legislation and regulations and plans to enact further measures. While jurisdictions may differ in their approaches and underlying philosophies the impacts are nevertheless world-wide, driven by the practical response of businesses to market dynamics, market size, and the manifestation of legislation in the standards and practices affecting IoT. The presentation and backup material will cover: (1) a view of what IoT is all about and the challenges of cybersecurity in the context of IoT; (2) an overview of the legislative and regulatory landscape; (3) the state of and the important trends in standards and best practices; (4) frameworks and platforms for dealing with the bundle of cybersecurity concerns; (5) common sense approaches for IoT cybersecurity; and (6) emerging technologies for improving the state of cybersecurity. Accompanying the presentation will be a list of sources and organizations in overseeing cybersecurity solution development, implementation, and operations as well as access to useful source materials for practitioners.

Presenter: Dr. Adam Drobot


Dr. Drobot is the Chairman of the Board of OpenTechWorks, Inc. His activities are strategic consulting, start-ups, non-profits, and industry associations. He serves on the Boards of multiple early-stage companies. These include Stealth Software Technologies Inc. which specializes in cybersecurity, secure computing, and privacy.

What We Do

WIoT is a professional membership-driven organization that advocates for Wisconsin and the Midwest as the epicenter for IoT. The WIoT provides its members a forum and platform for purposeful networking, relationship building, talent attraction, development, and mutual exchange of information relative to the Internet of Things.

How We Do It

We provide statewide programming for our WIoT membership in a regular event series focused on Education, Capital, Talent, and Policy as it pertains to the Internet of Things.  Additionally, we provide an IoT Inventory of regional companies focused on IoT and source and publish case studies of IoT products and implementations that have taken place in Wisconsin.
