Concerns about IoT and supporting Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) and infrastructure have led to significant enacted legislation and regulations and plans to enact further measures. While jurisdictions may differ in their approaches and underlying philosophies the impacts are nevertheless world-wide, driven by the practical response of businesses to market dynamics, market size, and the manifestation of legislation in the standards and practices affecting IoT. The presentation and backup material will cover: (1) a view of what IoT is all about and the challenges of cybersecurity in the context of IoT; (2) an overview of the legislative and regulatory landscape; (3) the state of and the important trends in standards and best practices; (4) frameworks and platforms for dealing with the bundle of cybersecurity concerns; (5) common sense approaches for IoT cybersecurity; and (6) emerging technologies for improving the state of cybersecurity. Accompanying the presentation will be a list of sources and organizations in overseeing cybersecurity solution development, implementation, and operations as well as access to useful source materials for practitioners.

What We Believe

We believe Wisconsin holds a unique position to lead the advancement of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT).

With a rich history in manufacturing, software, retail, and healthcare, our state possesses the expertise, experience, and forward-thinking mindset required to shape the future of connected technology. For Wisconsin to thrive in this era of rapid technological transformation, we must foster innovation and collaboration among businesses as they explore and develop enhancements in their products and operations. By leveraging our shared strengths and nurturing local talent and enterprises, we can ensure that pioneering solutions are not only envisioned here but also realized and built within our state.

What We Do

The Council is a professional, member-driven organization committed to establishing Wisconsin as a hub of excellence for the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and other emerging technologies. We provide our members with a platform for impactful networking, skill development, business expansion, and the exchange of specialized industry knowledge centered on the implementation of these technologies.

Additionally, we have developed an advocacy platform that seeks funding for training programs to support manufacturing businesses in integrating emerging technologies into their operations and products.

How We Do It

We provide statewide programming for our membership in an event series focused on Education, Capital, Talent, and Policy.  Additionally, we work to connect regional companies on topics of common interests and source and publish case studies of emerging IoT and AI products and implementations that have taken place in Wisconsin.

In bringing our resources to the membership, the Council has developed relationships with the UW-Electronic Business Consortium (UWEBC) and the WMEP.
