Topics & Discussions

8:00am-8:30am Registration, Breakfast and Networking

8:30am-8:35am Welcome from Board Chairman, Jeremy Udovich

8:35am-9:35am IoT Case Study - Badger Meter:

Badger Meter was a pioneer in wireless metering and one of the first in the US to push cellular as a broad option in the utility space.  Kristie Anderson, Marketing Manager for the Utility Services Business, will share how their connected metering journey evolved from being marketed as a SaaS product and into being called a NaaS (Network as a Service) product to remove some of the fear of adoption by their customers.

9:35am-10:35am Designing Trustworthy IoT

In a world of 25 billion connected devices and 450 exabytes of data, the lines are blurred between informative and creepy, smart and invasive, efficient and vulnerable. Even if you’re not breaking laws when designing or using IoT, the public relations consequences of mistakes by you or your suppliers can be significant.

In this session, Sarah Alt, the founder and CEO of the Ethical AI Consortium (EAIC) will review the European Commission guidelines for trustworthy artificial intelligence, how these guidelines mirror those proposed in an Executive Order in December 2020, and where these guidelines are being used to develop industry standards for advanced automation, analytics and algorithmic decision making.

10:35am-11:00am Networking Break

11:00am-12:00pm Managing the Supply Chain in Today's Dynamic Markets

Visiting from AVNET's Phoenix, Arizona location, VP of Operations and Supply Chain, Richard Diaz, and Bill Ogden, Director of Supply Chain Business Development, will share how global disruptions are affecting your supply in building your IoT products. How does this affect your business and how can you be prepared?

Leading the Wisconsin

Connectivity Initiatives

What We Believe

We believe Wisconsin holds a unique position to lead the advancement of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT).

With a rich history in manufacturing, software, retail, and healthcare, our state possesses the expertise, experience, and forward-thinking mindset required to shape the future of connected technology. For Wisconsin to thrive in this era of rapid technological transformation, we must foster innovation and collaboration among businesses as they explore and develop enhancements in their products and operations. By leveraging our shared strengths and nurturing local talent and enterprises, we can ensure that pioneering solutions are not only envisioned here but also realized and built within our state.

What We Do

The Council is a professional, member-driven organization committed to establishing Wisconsin as a hub of excellence for the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and other emerging technologies. We provide our members with a platform for impactful networking, skill development, business expansion, and the exchange of specialized industry knowledge centered on the implementation of these technologies.

Additionally, we have developed an advocacy platform that seeks funding for training programs to support manufacturing businesses in integrating emerging technologies into their operations and products.

How We Do It

We provide statewide programming for our membership in an event series focused on Education, Capital, Talent, and Policy.  Additionally, we work to connect regional companies on topics of common interests and source and publish case studies of emerging IoT and AI products and implementations that have taken place in Wisconsin.

In bringing our resources to the membership, the Council has developed relationships with the UW-Electronic Business Consortium (UWEBC) and the WMEP.
